According to the 2017 Wellness Trends Report from Humana, Inc., here are the top employee stressors that really take a toll on the health of workers:

  • An aging population. More workers are caring for loved ones, and more workers themselves are aging and retiring later.
  • Finances. 37% of full-time employees say they think or deal with financial issues while on the clock at work. Almost half of American adults have problems paying household expenses on time.
  • Anxiety and negative emotions. The report suggests that practicing mindfulness can help with anxiety and even health issues such as quitting smoking.
  • Sleep. One third of the entire U.S. workforce has at least one sleep disorder. Among workers aged 30 and older, 74% say that lack of sleep affects their work performance.
